In order to provide for total transparency and also to ensure that all persons providing Suwasetha with project financing can be confident that the funds provided for by them will be used in accordance with the terms and conditions under which it is provided, Suwasetha will operate the funds through a Trust Arrangement. This arrangement will also apply to moneys contributed through the payment gateway of this site.

A. The Trust is titled “Sarvodaya Suwasetha Sewa Master Trust”

B. Suwasetha arranged with Sampath Bank to be the Trustees for such funds.

Sampath Bank is one of the leading domestic banks in the Country. The Bank commenced business in April 1986. It is listed on the Colombo Stock Exchange with an issued share capital of Rs 688 million.

C. The Deed of Trust has been entered into by Lanka Jathika Sarvodaya Shramadana Sangamaya,- the parent of Sarvoday Suwasetha – on the one part; and Sampath Bank – the Trustees -on the other part. for the purpose of facilitating the implementation of the various charitable activities carried out by Suwasetha:

D. The “Sponsor/s”, who shall be the institution/s (or individuals) which sponsor(s) one or more of the projects to be carried out in furtherance of the Trust Objectives, shall enter into a written agreement with the Trustees setting out the rights and obligations of the parties in respect of the specific project to be sponsored. The aforesaid Agreement shall be supplementary to this Trust Deed.

E. Sarvodaya has paid an initial sum of Sri Lankan Rupees One Million (LKR 1,000,000/-) to the Trustees to be held as part of the Trust Property to be administered by the Trustees for the furtherance of the Objects hereinafter mentioned.

F. The Objects of the said Trust are from the broader perspective to assist in relieving poverty; to support and further the education of all children in need within Sri Lanka; to assist in improving the health services; to assist in providing food, clothing and shelter to those in need in Sri Lanka ; and to assist in improving and uplifting the living standards of the vulnerable groups of the public particularly the children, women, elderly, the disadvantaged and the disabled within Sri Lanka and particularly affected by the Tsunami.

G. The Trustees are hereby granted all such authorities, powers and rights as may be necessary or required for the management and control of the Trust including the right to receive donations, gifts and endowments; t enter into separate Agreements with each Sponsor in respect of projects to be carried out in furtherance of the objects of the Trust; to open and maintain a bank account or bank accounts; and to reimburse themselves and pay and discharge out of the funds or monies in their hands all expenses incurred in or about the administration and execution of the said Trust.

H. The Trustees shall maintain records of the receipts of every donation, gift and endowment received and maintain or cause to be maintained true accounts of all receipts or expenditure of the monies and of all assets and liabilities of the said Trust and such accounts shall be audited at least once a year by a qualified Accountant or Accountants to be appointed by the Trustees in consultation with Sarvodaya
