A safe heaven for the Boys at Sarvodaya Suwasetha in Baddegma

Mr Rick Paul President, Mast Industries Inc and Mr Deepal Sooriyaarachchi handed over a new Children’s Home at Baddegama in Galle to Mrs. Neetha Ariyaratne Hony Secretary, Sarvodaya Suwasetha on 28h October 2007. ‘Eagle/Mast Darusevena – was constructed with the generous donations from MAST CARES, a division of Limited Brands in collaboration with Eagle Insurance.

Amongst the lush green tea plantation, which is cultivated in the premises that generates a small income ‘Darusevena’ a state of the art facility was designed by Ranjan Nedesapilai, a member of the Sri Lanka Institute of Architects. It has provision for 35 boys and 4 staff members which includes 3 spacious dormitories, bathing and washing areas and spacious areas for outdoor and indoor games

The opening ceremony of ‘Darusevena’ was graced by Mr Rick Paul, President Mast Industries inc, Mr Deepal Sooriyaarachchi, Managing Director, Eagle Insurance, Ms Mary Ellan Prentis, Executive Vice President, VSD, Margaret Wright and Mr Mark Green.

Also present at the opening was Ms Reena Cheriyan, Country Manager MAST Industries of Sri Lanka & India amongst other distinguished guests and Sponsors.

Upgrading the old home is scheduled to commence shortly where an ICT unit, Library and Infirmary that will further enhance the environment of the boys of Eagle/Mast Darusevena.
